Remote phone lock for N97 via SMS

One of the hidden features of the Nokia N97 and other S60 devices, that most of you have never heard of, simply because they have not played around with the settings enough, is the ability to lock your phone remotely without having any third party software installed on your smartphone. Here is a simple tutorial that will show you how to lock your smartphone from anywhere in the world just by sending a SMS message.

Now, take your phone and go to Settings - Phone - Phone mgmt. - Security settings - Phone and SIM card. Once you are there you will see a "Remote phone locking" option that will probably be disabled. Select it and set it to "Enabled". You will be asked to enter a "Remote locking message" - this is the text of the SMS message you will send to your phone in order to lock it. Write something that you will remember. I set it to "lockmyphone". After that you will be prompted to verify the locking message text. So type in your secret keyword again. You will be prompted to enter your current lock code, which by default is 12345 for all Nokia S60 smartphones. Enter the code and click OK.
Now on the same page there is another option "Lock code" that enables you to change the lock code for your Nokia N97 smartphone. Change it to something different from 12345 but remember this code. Now lets test if this thing works. Take another phone and send your phone a SMS message with your remote locking message. Upon receiving the SMS message your phone will be locked and if someone likes to use it, they will have to enter the lock code. Also after the phone is locked you will receive a SMS on the other phone "Phone locked" stating that your smartphone is locked.

SISContents - Unpacking, editing and signing of Symbian SIS packages

SISContents is a tool that allows you to unpack, edit and sign Symbian 9 SIS packages (Nokia S60 3rd, 5th Edition and Sony Ericsson UIQ 3.x platforms are supported). It helps you to inspect the files contained in SIS package, to see certificates against which it was signed as well as to view the PKG script that describes the on-device installation process. You can also edit the contents of packages and sign them after that.
Main features of SISContents:
- read the contents and show information on SIS packages;
- unpack files from SIS packages;
- extract embedded components of packages as sis files (including certificates and signatures);
- view and save installation PKG script;
- sign packages, show information on certificates (validity period, issuer, subject, etc.), and delete them from package;
- edit package: modification of name, vendor, version, type of installation, supported platforms (devices), software dependencies, options is available. You can also add, replace and delete files/components containing in a package and change capabilities, UID3, SID of executables (i.e. exe, dll, ldd, etc.);
- read the contents and unpack files from N-Gage packages;
- extract and edit contents of mif files embedded in sis packages;
- view and extract images from and edit multibitmap (mbm) files embedded in sis packages.

This method is based on y: drive workaround
THIS METHOD AS SUCH DOESNT HACK V31 BUT WHAT YOU DO IS YOU MOD YOUR N95 ON VERSION 30 SO THAT AFTER UPGRADE TO VERSION 31 U STILL RETAIN THE ABILITY TO INSTALL UNSIGNED APPS
Here's how to do it
first if u are on version 30 or on 20 and still not hacked your phones then u need to first follow the guide in the sticky and hack your phones
now for all those who have hacked phones and are on version 30.0.18
1)turn caps off (using whihever method u r using )
2) go to c:/sys:/bin
3)locate the installserver ( note use the version of installserver.exe that i have uploaded )
note if u havent installed installserver.exe then no need to follow this step
4)go to Y: drive and make a new directory SYS
5) in Y:/SYS make a directory BIN
6)now move installserver.exe to Y:/SYS/BIN
7)RESTART

so now your installserver.exe will be moved from c/sys/bin and will be in y/sys/bin

Press *#06# on your Nokia mobile and the-international mobile equipment identity number appears.

Then look for the 7th and 8th numbers.

IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are:
08 or 80 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Germany which is fair quality
01 or 10 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Finland which is very Good
00 this means your cell phone was manufactured in original factory which is the best Mobile Quality
02 or 20 this means your cell phone was assembled in Emirates which is very Bad quality

Signing SIS Files - Creating Certificate and Private Keys. Do it yourself!!!

For simplier signing use the BiNPDA SIGNSiS v0.1 to sign sis file.

This article is specific to S60 3rd Edition development or newer. From S60 3rd Edition, which is based on Symbian OS 9, a user can install only signed applications. If an application requires basic capabilities only, it can be signed with self−signed certificate. Basic capabilities include LocalServices, Location, NetworkServices, ReadUserData, UserEnvironment and WriteUserData. An application that does not require any capabilities can also be signed with self−signed certificate.

The drawback of self−signed certificate is that a user will be prompted a warning dialog. It says that the application is not trusted and the user can decide whether or not to continue the installation. The warning dialog does not appear when the application is signed via Symbian Signed.

Following is the example which illustrates the Self−Signing procedure.

Step−1 Creating Certificate and Keys

From your Desktop Screen: Start−> Run −> Cmd then go in your Sis file path using cd DOS command.

Note: Here you may find that World123 is the password.
